The Story
- Probably my favorite part of the SI swimsuit issue has been the introduction of body paint. Combine that with hot soccer wives/girlfriends and you have a dream pairing for me. Clint Dempsey's wife was one of the few selected to partake in the body painting before the 2010 World Cup. Now for those who may not be too familiar with Clint he's the all time US leading scorer in the premier league and is rumored to be looking for a transfer during the summer to a Championship League team. With the way Clint has played in 2012 this might lead to a major bidding war, one that could involve any of the big European soccer clubs.
Bethany and Clint were married on July 28, 2007. They meet while both where in college attending Furman College. While the two became friends the romance took some time to blossom. Clint eventually headed up to Boston to play for the New England Revolution and Bethany worked on her Master's Degree. Eventually the two got together while Clint was with the Revolution and married soon after that. They have two children together; a daughter, Elyse and a son, Jackson. The entire family lives in Wimbeldon, England where Clint plays.
The Story
- Even in the soccer world, England and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is considered a player. Honestly, it’s hard to keep up with his dating history. But we here at Playerwives are hard at work to keep you up to date.
We will start with his ex-wife, Cheryl. The two were married from July 2006 until September 2010. To say that Ashley was unfaithful during their time together would certainly be the understatement of the year. While it was rumored throughout the marriage, when Cheryl announced their split in February 2010 it was accompanied with the fact that Ashley had cheated on her with another 5 women. Poor form, sir.
From there, he moved on to an ex-lapdancer turned model (although it’s not entirely clear when the dancing stopped and the modeling began if you know what we mean). The media in England jumped all over Sarah Purnell, stating that she was a spitting image on his ex-wife. She parlayed her newfound fame into a role on the UK version of Big Brother. Their relationship lasted less than a year, aka it was a typical rebound.
And now we’re on to Kayla Collins. The couple first got together in December 2010, right around Cole’s 30th birthday. This time he picked someone already famous, as Collins appeared on the briefly syndicated show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. Oh, and she’s also a Playboy Playmate. They lasted a grand total of 5 weeks together, blaming the split on “work commitments”. Suuuure…
Cole must have a thing for bunnies, because he dated another Playmate Melissa Howe starting in October 2011. Smitten, he asked her to move in after four dates and zero rendezvous under the sheets. She smartly declined his offer. Aside from being in Playboy, she was also a back up dancer for Rihanna.
So there you have it. Cole has remained under the radar so to speak in 2012, but we’re confident based on his history that there will be something new to report in the near future.
The Story
- To be honest, we’re stumped. We can not explain how this man (Carles Puyol) dated this girl (Malena Costa). This is easily the biggest discrepancy in looks that we have seen on this site. Puyol looks like he should be staring in a Geico commercial whereas Costa would turn heads even in LA. I wish I had played more soccer growing up
The former couple dated for roughly one year before calling it quits in October 2011. No truth to the rumor that Costa ended things after having Lasik eye surgery. She is a model (shocker!) and lives in Spain.
Puyol has moved on, now dating Giselle Lacouture. While no slouch herself, we’re officially calling this a downgrade. Not much is known about Lacouture yet, other than she is from Columbia. Puyol supposedly met her through Shakira, who is dating his Barcelona teammate Pique. Again, I wish I had played more soccer growing up.
Puyol and Costa have remained friends, and she was surprised to read about his new girl. “It hurts me to see that Carles is already with another woman” said Costa during a January interview with a Spanish magazine. She also revealed that it was Puyol who ended things, saying he wanted time alone. We’ll keep you up to date in case Puyol comes to his senses.

The Story
- As we roll out our coverage for the 2012 NFL Draft, we've been trying to cover the guys drafted on Thursday night sitting in the green room in New York. There are probably players who are going to be drafted long before Michigan State's TE Garrett Celek that we could have spent our time researching and posting on,... but we promise you, the reader, that would be a travesty and disservice to you.
Why?
Meet Garrett Celek's girlfriend Sarah Hinton. Sarah was a contestant in the 2010 Miss Hooters competition and also in the 2012 Hooters Dream Girl Aruba competition. She began working at a Hooters in Saginaw, MI, during her Freshman year at Michigan State. She has appeared in various Hooters calendars, including being the featured model on July 2011. Admittedly, she didn't walk away with either of the Miss Hooters titles, but I think she'll easily walk away with the Miss NFL Draft 2012 title.
As if that's not enough for you, let's take a stroll through her Hooters profile. She enjoys going to MSU Spartan football games and would want her boyfriend to cook her the following meal: "A nice juicy filet with asparagus and potatoes."
Seriously, Garrett,... who cares when your name gets called. You've already won.
