The Story
- Matt Harrison's wife Meghan Harrison has developed an online personality for herself, running her own blog, and as a regular contributor to Baseball Wife Blog discussing some of the inner details of being the wife of a professional baseball player. Amongst some of the topics she's talked about are how frequently she travels with the team and how she feels when fans ask for autographs when they are together in public.
Meghan was also featured in an article on ESPNDallas.com discussing Matt Harrison's vocal supporters. Meghan is notoriously loud when Matt's on the hill, and can be frequently picked up louder than general crowd noise by TV and radio microphones. Says Matt, "As long as she's not cussing out fans and getting in fights, I'm all right. At least she's watching what's going on and knows what's happening. She's not just sitting up there not paying attention."
Matt and Meghan were married December 13, 2008 after dating for 6 years. They are currently expecting their first child.

The Story
- Colby Lewis and his wife, Jenny Lewis are the proud parents of two children, each of which being a landmark in Colby's baseball career.
In 2007, Jenny was pregnant with the couple's first child. Colby was bouncing between the Oakland A's big league club and their AAA affiliate. Colby recognized that something had to change, so he elected to take his baseball talents across the Pacific and play in Japan. In an interview with ESPN's Tim Kurkijan, he realized, "I've got to go [to Japan]. I've got to make some money." Colby notes that the day Washington Nationals cut him prior to the 2007 season was the low point of his career, but also happened to be the day his first son was born.
After spending 2 years in Japan to revive his career, Colby came back to the states in part to have another baby. In the same Kurkijan article, it's noted that Jenny has Graves' disease, a thyroid condition, and the Lewis family was encouraged to come back in order to get adequate health insurance from a major league club for her.
Fast forward to April, 2011. Jenny Lewis gave birth to the couple's second child, daughter Elizabeth Grace. Colby flew to the family home in Bakersfield, CA to be with his family. In this move, he officially became the first player in Major League Baseball history to go on the newly instilled Paternity List, allowing him 24 to 72 hours to leave the team to be with his wife and new daughter.

The Story
- Manager of the Texas Rangers, Ron Washington's wife Gerry Washington is perhaps best known for standing by her man when he tested positive for cocaine during the 2009 season. Gerry Washington appeared at her husband's side at the press conference when he announced the positive test. Ron and Gerry have been married almost 40 years and she wasn't about to let a little blow ruin all of that.
Gerry also made the news around game 4 of this year's ALDS when Ron Washington, a huge sunflower seed chewer for years, switched to gum. News broke that Gerry didn't like the way that Ron looked on camera when chewing seeds. According to Ron, she said "Everybody eats seeds, but nobody looks like you". Harsh words. And a little controlling if you ask me.
Ron and Gerry's home in Eastern New Orleans was almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 - literally reduced to studs. Many of Ron's family members packed up and left - but not Ron and Gerry. They insisted on rebuilding and the process is almost finished, thanks in large part to donations from several of his players (at the time) like Miguel Tejada and Jason Giambi, who donated more than $60,000 to aide in the process.
Obviously that second photo isn't of Gerry Washington. Fact is, I could only find one photo of her. In my searches however, this little dude kept popping up. Given that Halloween is only a week or so away this year, I felt it only fitting to highlight what might be the best costume that I've ever seen. Li'l Ron Washington makes me wish that I had a black son, because I would totally convince him to dress like this. Amazing.

The Story
- Owner of the Texas Rangers, Nolan Ryan's wife Ruth Ryan met her husband-to-be when she was just 13 years old. 15 year old Nolan Ryan and 13 year old Ruth Holdorff met while they both attended Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas. Nolan was a standout baseball and basketball star, while Ruth was a state champion tennis player - in short, they were the prototypical high school power couple. Hell, they were probably Prom King and Queen for all we know. The two were married on June 26th, 1967. Nolan and Ruth Ryan went on to have three children together: Robert Reid Ryan (born on November 21, 1971), Jimmy Reese Ryan (born on January 21, 1976) and Wendy Lynn Ryan (born on March 22, 1977).
Ruth Ryan is heavily involved in charity work. Along with Nolan, she helped to create the Nolan Ryan Foundation which provide resources for youth, education, and community development. She is also very involved at her alma mater, Alvin College, where she is involved with the Board of trustees, the ACC Foundation and also has the softball field named after her.
Ruth also recently published a book about her life with Nolan Ryan, fittingly called "Covering Home: My Life with Nolan Ryan". Ruth also provides some insight into her family values on the Nolan Ryan's All-Natural Beef website. Hop on over and read How to Make Sit-Down Dinners and Busy Sports Schedules Mix.
Ruth Ryan was born Ruth Holdorff in Alvin, Texas on January 10, 1949.
