Matt Hasselbeck’s wife Sarah Hasselbeck

    Dear Matt and Sarah,
I have heard of your commitment to marriage, so I though that I might make a request of you . . . over the past 31 years, I have been offering Christian counseling to couples in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I have seen hundreds of individuals and couples. I have spent 1000’s of hours helping these people find God’s healing and direction for their lives. One of my focuses has been to help pastors by offering counseling and discipleship to their church members who require more time and energy than they might be able to provide. I keep my rates exceptionally low, so that I can provide excellent ministry to those members of the body of Christ who have limited resources. (Typically, about 1/3 of the people that I see are unable to pay anything). Yet I give these folks who cannot pay anything the same time and prayer and attention that I give those who can pay some amount.

God has faithfully provided for my needs all these years. Yet over the past couple months, I have had a higher than usual number of people who have not been able to pay anything. Consequently, my ministry has fallen behind on a number of bills. (I currently have about $3000 due in past bills). I was wondering if you might be willing to help in some manner.

We won’t squander anything that you might give us . . . my wife and family live a very frugal lifestyle and channel all the funds we receive into the Peacemakers Counseling ministry. I drive a 1989 Ford Ranger and raised my family of 4 children in a 950 square foot house. When we’re short of money, I typically do construction work on the side. However, at this point in time, catching up on our overdue expenses seems a bit overwhelming.

I want you to know that Peacemakers is a legitimate counseling ministry, so I can send you a short brochure that I send to local pastors when I offer my services to them. Included on those pages is a list of pastors who can vouch for Peacemakers. You would be welcome to give them a phone call.

If you would be willing to consider helping me by supporting Peacemakers that would be a tremendous encouragement to us!

    Dear Sarah,
After reading your bio, it would be an interesting debate as to which one of you is tougher. Regardless, I would like to relay to Matt, just how much I appreciated his contribution to our Seahawks and their success. He was a pleasure to watch both on and off the field. I have missed him. Best of luck to him on his retirement after next season. I highly recommend it! After 29 years with the King County Sheriff’s Office, the relief of stress will take years off of his appearance. Look back on your successes and know that you did a wonderful job. Congratulations on your survival of this violent game that so many love.
God Bless you and your family. DRH
