Gus Malzahn’s wife Kristi Malzahn has a warm heart and gushes on social media over her friends and family. The Malzahn’s have two daughters, Kylie and Kenzie, and Kristi uses words like “blessings” to describe them. Her religious background definitely informs her social media activity. Any time you start seeing someone using the word “blessings” and “blessed,” you know they’re thumbing through some daily psalms.
Gus and wife Kristi’s daughters look very similar to each other. Kenzi goes to Arkansas State and is the youngest daughter. Kristi was interviewed by ABC and featured as someone with her “entire adult life surrounded by football.” The news people said Kristi is the kind of woman who never meets a stranger while Gus would have probably been reluctant to let the cameras in their house. She agreed with the interviewer’s comment regarding her personality versus her husband: she is “fun, wild, and crazy,” and she said her husband is “uptight.” The couple met in high school while Gus was apparently tearing up the basketball, baseball, and football scene.
Kristi is pretty funny when describing the college football star coach. She says people will be excited when they talk about him, and she’ll say “Oh yeah he leaves his clothes on the floor in a pile. He’s not that great.” She emphasizes how they’re just two people, and how she still sees Gus as the guy she married 24 years ago. “He impresses me for the kind of dad he is. He impresses me for the kind of husband he is. He impresses me for the kind of leader that he is. He impresses me for his heart, but it doesn’t have anything to do with whether he wins or loses a ballgame.” At the time of the family interviews, Kylie was going to Auburn and was interviewed as well, saying how tough it can be in a coach’s family. Kristi says dressing him is a big challenge, and that Gus can’t dance. According to Kristi, he also won a lip syncing contest dressed as Madonna in Cancun.
