Are Shelden Williams and Candace Parker the first couple of basketball?
The best player in the WNBA and the former college star have been married since eloping in Lake Tahoe in November, 2008. This happened after they had both described plans for a large elaborate ceremony.
The pair had their first child in 2009. According to a press release from Goodwin Sports Management:
"Parker gave birth to a baby girl today(May 13, 2009) at 11:29am. It is the first child for the WNBA MVP/ROY and husband Shelden Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The baby girl weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces and 20 inches in length."
Parker had an interesting quote after the game which reflected a side of the relationship we never considered:
The baby will be along for the ride, with me on trips, at the court. You don’t hear about male players doing that, do you? Women, we just have to balance more things. It’s harder for us. That’s just the way it is. For now.
