The Arizona Diamondbacks have built a roster for the long haul. With an even blend of conservative contracts, and young players under team control, the team has put together a recipe for long term success.
At the center of the young players to help the team go forward is first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt tore through the minor leagues and found his way to the bigs late in 2011 before posting a monster 2012 season. On the journey through the entire trip has been Paul Goldschmidt’s wife Amy Goldschmidt.
Paul and Amy Goldschmidt met at Texas State during their freshman year. Amy was on the golf team, and Paul readily admits that she takes the golfing trophies in the Goldschmidt house. In an interview with USA Today, Paul talks about their time on the links together
“I try to play with her, but I’ve got no chance. I’m not very good. She tries to help, but I can be stubborn at times. So, I’ll bring her out with some of my friends and use her as a ringer and try to take some money from the guys.”
The two were engaged while she was still in college, and Paul shares the interesting proposal story to Fox Sports in the video on the right. They were married in October, 2010 and have no children together yet, but do have one dog together.
