The Story

• If you are looking for the "it" girl for the 2012 Olympics look no further than Missy Franklin. The 17 year old U.S. swimmer has a chance to be the Michael Phelps of the 2012 Olympics. Currently Missy has qualified for 7 events at the Olympics (Phelps qualified for 8 in 2008). While she more than likely will not win gold in all 7 events she is a threat in all of the races.
  
  I have no clue where someone who is 17 who is trying to balance school and qualifying for practically every Olympic swimming event finds time to have a boyfriend, but somehow Missy figured it out. While it may be a little bit shocking, Missy Franklin is dating someone who, wait for it, swims as well. Missy Franklin's boyfriend John Martens is not nearly the swimmer that Missy is, but in fairness to him,... who really who is?
  
  Missy and John have been dating for less than a year and met because their swimming groups used to swim one right after the other. Sadly, I think it's pretty safe to to go on the record and say that after Missy wins a few gold medals in London, there is no way this relationship lasts more than two months after the Olympics. Missy is going to be a star and on the cover of Wheaties or whatever product the Olympic stars get on after London, and while we definitely wish them the best, John will likely and sadly turn into a footnote in the great career of Missy.
  
  So our official suggestion to John: soak up the next two months and enjoy.
