The Story

• Boy, it pays to be widely considered the world's best athlete.
  As we continue our Olympic coverage, it became increasingly apparent that any coverage lacking the new world record holder in the Decathlon, wouldn't be coverage at all. USA decathlete Ashton Eaton just broke the World Record scoring 9,039 in the 2 days worth of events at the US Olympic Trials in Oregon. He broke the previous 11 year standing record by 13 points.
  
  As he raced towards his world record finishing the 1500 m, which was the last event in the two day trials, he had two very important women waiting for him: of course mom Rosyln Eaton was there, and right next to her waiting to celebrate was Ashton Eaton's fiancee Brianne Theisen. As the three celebrated the incredible acheivement, none could seem to contain their emotion. As Theisen told The Oregonian:
  

  “I just cried. By far, the coolest moment in my entire life.”

  
  As we continue to see time and again, Theisen and Eaton share similar athletic interests, as Theisenis the Pac-12 record holder in the Heptathlon. She is expected to also make the London Games, but will be wearing a different flag as she hails from Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
  
  Both Theisen and Eaton attended the University of Oregon, and had incredibly successful collegiate careers. Eaton graduated in 2011, and Theisen graduated this May. Theisen broke the news of their engagement late in the spring semester, but I think they are both so preoccupied with other stuff for late July that any wedding plans will have to wait.
  
  Both are considered strong contenders to medal in their respective events in London. Eaton is considered odds on favorite to win gold in 2012 in what will be an incredible bout between two American heavyweights. The 08 Gold medalist Trey Hardee finished second in the qualifiers while he recovers from Tommy John surgery and is expected to be at full strength for London
